👋 Hello Clin Oops Pros,
This week clinicaltrials.gov changed their default design to the new beta version.
Most people I’ve spoken with already miss the classic version.
The updates have been marketed as a solution to usability issues (no argument here) but let’s take a look at what they’re saying has changed.
Mobile Responsive: The new site is mobile-friendly. This works way better than the classic.
Redesigned Home Page and Search Feature: To be honest I’m not seeing the difference here.
Updated Filter Functionality: Again, hard to tell what’s new here.
Maps: Study sites are now displayed on a map. Pretty cool for patients and certainly easier to navigate.
All this is great for industry users but I’m anticipating patients will still struggle:
Understanding complex medical terminology: Study descriptions are still too complicated and can be daunting for patients without a medical background.
Identifying relevant trials: With thousands of trials listed, it can be overwhelming for patients to find trials that are suitable for their specific condition and circumstances.
Interpreting trial results: The presentation of trial results can be confusing and may not provide clear information about a trial's success or applicability to a patient's condition.
What do you think?
